I’m having a holy crap moment. Yesterday I received a notice from Facebook that a friend congratulated me for being honored by BlogHer as a Voice of the Year. For those who don’t blog it’s the Oscars of the Blogging World. Or not, but still freaking huge (I’ve used the word freaking more in the past 24 hours than in my life).I am beyond wicked excited about this award. I had submitted a piece from last year. I never expected to be chosen. The piece isn’t funny (at all) and it is one I would truly be embarrassed for Bridget to read should she ever learn to read. It’s not pretty, but as a friend told me, it’s real and honest.
Between the overwhelming honor of Listen to Your Mother (Boston cast) and this award I a tad, well not a tad….freaking overwhelmed with gratitude. That I can write both funny and raw posts and have them resonate with other people. Not moms, not moms of special girls, not moms of red heads but to have my words read by men, women and teens is a FREAKING moment. One I am basking in, if you couldn’t tell.
Last weekend we had the final rehearsal for LTYM (Boston). I held it together, I listened to such powerful stories and felt like I belonged. We went to lunch at a place I didn’t need the menu explained. We didn’t want the lunch to end.
But now, I’m six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon. Guess who else won a VOTY? Wil FREAKING Wheaton. The boy from Stand by Me, Star Trek and most importantly Big Bang Theory. I may be sitting next to Wil FREAKING Wheaton. Who knew he blogged? Well, now I do. He is probably too famous to attend the conference or key note award. But holy crap I’m in the same stratosphere as a famous actor. And now I am only THREE degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon:

Not to jinx the Gods that try to mess you with when you are happy, but between LTYM, surviving my first 10K and VOTY it’s been a pretty good week so far.
And if Wil Wheaton is at the conference I am so getting a selfie.

Oh my gosh! You’re happiness is FREAKING contagious! I’m so happy for your VOTY…you certainly deserve it. I don’t know what piece you submitted but so many of yours would make the cut. I’m happy for you, I’m proud of you, and you should ride this wave of excitement for as long as you want. As for Wil Wheaton, I’m a HUGE Big Bang fan and my personal fave is Sheldon but I’d take a selfie with Wil. I hope you get it ;).
