I’m here…just well read on

To say I have a lot to be thankful this week as obvious as saying a hawk thinks bunnies are a wonderful appetizer.

In fact I have so much to be thankful for that I am at a loss for words. Or maybe just the energy to write them. Hence my being MIA this week. Yet here I am wanting to share my week and a half of thanks:

A week ago Thursday I was elected to our town’s school committee. (Cause I don’t have enough to do!). I was unopposed, not many have the time/energy to serve. But I had more votes than the blank spot so I’m counting that as a win. It was kind of a surreal experience voting for myself, I have to tell you. Seeing my name on a government voting ballot hit home just how important this job will be and why I might be realigning priorities.

The next night I spent four hours volunteering for our local Ragnar Race. If you have never heard of Ragnar, it is a relay race where you run about 3 times within a 24-36 hour period. Our friends tried to get us to run with them. There are two obstacles: I will not run at 2 am and I will not spend 24-36 hours in a van running no matter how much I admire my friends.

Saturday was the LTYM-Boston Show. Un-FREAKING-believable. Probably better than meeting Wil freaking Wheaton (I will let you know in July). The day was so overfilled with emotion I still cannot put it into words. Hence no post. But I promise, it’s coming along with the piece I read.

Oh and on top of LTYM just being so overwhelming, my Spaudling chicks AND Lisa surprised me by showing up for the show. How David pulled it off I will never know. But he did. And wow. When I saw the Spaulding chicks cheering for me the back of the church eliminated all my nerves. I did not notice Lisa until after I presented, which was probably a good thing. I didn’t see David either (I thought he was in traffic).

I am also beyond thankful for the Cast Party at Lolita’s. Best Mojito ever. Just sayin’. Thank you to SheKnows media for providing us with the perfect spot to wind down after the show.

Sunday brought us Mother’s Day. Or in my case take your mother-in-law to lunch because her son is “stuck” at a brush fire. But I am thankful that my girls have their grandmother in their life, and even more thankful that I love her and enjoy spending time with her.

Sunday also brought an opportunity for us to give back. Through our community we organized gift bags for Mother’s Day at a local shelter. We had so much fun putting the bags together. The generosity of our town continues to amaze me. The woman at the shelter were beyond thankful. To quote one, “I felt like a kid on Christmas. Something I haven’t felt in a long time”.

Monday was PTA. I thought I was “off” it with the school committee election but I so enjoy these moms who provide our schools with support, activities and seriously work together to make our school a nurturing environment. Even when we disagree, we all come from the same place which makes disagreements easier to navigate, for which I am thankful!

Tuesday I got to stay home at night and enjoy a very nice glass of wine. Enough said.

That’s what I am thankful for this week, how about you?

No the hawk did NOT get the bunnies. Another reason to give thanks!

Yet.

We have a little bunny living in our yard – I hope a hawk doesn’t get that one, either! Congrats on all the good things!

We have the most beautiful red hawks that hang around our neighborhood. I try not to think about the number of squirrels they probably consume. I wish they would prey on some of the black snakes!
I can’t wait to see your LTYM performance. I’m hoping you’re planning to share it..please. Those shows are so powerful. I’m happy you got to do it.
Congratulations on your new new role. I wish you all the best!

I’m glad LTYM went so well and that you had a posse there to support you. Can’t wait to hear all about it.
