If we were having a glass of wine I would tell you…
That tomorrow is the “big” day. Bridget starts kindergarten. I would tell you that I spoke with both her SPED teacher and her kindergarten teacher. Both women are kind, generous with their time and willing to collaborate with me to make Bridget as safe as possible. I’m still scared as hell. I’m also hopeful that my friend, Dana, is right and in 3 months I will be telling you I was worried for no valid reason.
If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you that we had the best weekend at the beach. Bridget did so well, only panicking a little bit. We enjoyed fresh out of the ocean steamers and stripers as the sun set and the bonfire was started. Life doesn’t get much better then three days of sunshine and friendship.
If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you I almost strangled my older child when she proclaimed the night before school started that her shoes did not fit. A little tidbit of news she “forgot” to tell me all week. She went to her first day in a beautiful dress with well worn flip flops. Well it is the Cape.
If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you that having my mom living close by has been great. That although having her stay in my home was nice, relationships are saved by a little distance. I think she would agree. The girls are enjoying sneaking up to her apartment where Bridget asks for and receives “dog food” (aka Devil Dogs).
If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you about a book I read, “Escape from Davao”. A book about an escape from a WW2 Prison camp in the Pacific. That these men are the true heroes, from their survival of the Bataan Death, their escape from the prison camp and their continued service to our Country. We need more heroes like these men, ones who are known for bravery rather than celebrity. I would also ask you for a book recommendation as my reading has been way to heavy lately.
If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you that I literally tripped over the dog the other night. In the dark and thankfully my head missed the counter top. I am very thankful there was no video of the event, but I would have given myself a 9.5 for style. I’m also thankful that my new tan has masked the bruises on my knees.
If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you that we now have 9 ladies on our Mudderella team. That I am hopeful they don’t hurt me after convincing them this will be fun.
If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you that we waved goodbye to our tourism season. It was fun and hot but a tradition we look forward to every year. I would tell you how the girls laughed when people waved back and shouted THANK YOU to them as they passed underneath our feet.
If we were having a glass of wine, I would ask you how you handled back to school and how life was treating you this week.
I wish we were having a glass of wine. I’m disappointed in us for never getting it together!!
