This holiday season I will…

This holiday season I will not be Clark Griswold. Seriously I have issues people. I want everything to be freaking perfect. I want the house decorated, the cookies made, the gifts wrapped and well bought.

I want peace, love and freaking harmony.

I want my Christmas cards done and mailed. Yes, I have done cards in the past and found them in the trunk in February.

I do not want to be in three months of debt for five minutes of present unwrapping.

So far I am having a pretty good start to the season.

My brother and I have donated to a charity rather than buying one another gifts.

I have ordered and addressed Christmas cards. I may mail them.

David is working overtime so I may keep that debt down.

Boo still hates Santa so I can say that she is on the naughty list and that’s why she doesn’t have anything to open (okay, not really).

The Christmas tree was only up a week this year before we got around to putting the ornaments on. The angel is still sitting next to it.

So this holiday season I will remember that Clark had a great vision: wanting to give his family the “Hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny (freaking) Kaye”.

And I am okay with that!

You should come over to my place sometime. You would feel like such a rockstar after seeing our shit show of unhung holiday decorations (both Menorahs and stockings). I'd make you think you were a genius for even getting that angel anywhere near the tree… Now, I think I need to go hang the stockings, since I sound like such a loser.

There's snow and ice one our roof so I can't get to the second level, but the lights I do put up are very obviously not professionally hung. The duct tape and plastic wraps are part of the charm though, I think. Our tree is in three pieces on the ground in the garage. I'm hoping the wife gets to it soon because outside illumination is my job and the tree is hers. That's the implied deal!!!

HAHAHA!! We don't have a tree yet, and the cards I ordered arrived today. So yeah… I do have some lights up outside, but only where I could reach without a ladder. I haven't unpacked any of the other santa stuff. Poor Boo, on Santa's naughty list. Tucker hates him, too! (oh the things they have in common…eeeep!!!!)

I've never decorated my own home for Christmas. I'm enjoying the fact that, as an adult, I don't have to and you can't make me (**sticks tongue out for effect**). I have some good memories of preparing for Christmas as a child, but I can't say that I truly enjoyed it.
I hope you find joy and serenity decorating and prepping for the holidays.
    Merry Christmas!

LOL – loved reading that you wrote all your Christmas cards then found them all again in February! Glad to know I'm not the only one who does stuff like that! Brilliant idea to donate to charity with your adult pressies rather than gift giving. Wishing you a peaceful and relaxing Christmas season 🙂

Love it. Your plans are good and wholesome and worthwhile.

And whatever of Christmas you manage, you'll be far more Christmassier than I. Enjoy it.

Kudos for getting your cards done so early.

I swore I wasn't going to give myself the stress of cards this year, and then I caved. I just can't help it. Peace, love and harmony is a tall order – I'll settle for two out of three!
