If we were having a glass of wine

If we were having a glass of wine, I would share with you that I am excitedly looking forward to Saturday. It is kind of weirding me out, the fact that I am actually going to attempt to run 13.2 miles (hell yes, I’m counting the 0.2). I know realistically I will walk some of it, but I’m okay with that.

I would remind you that my first goal was to finish the race without being last. That goal evolved to just finishing the race. Now the goal is to finish the race without needing an ambulance.  I would promise to let you know if you need to attend my funeral. I would also promise to stop talking about the race.

If we were sharing a glass of wine, I would tell you that Bridget has made amazing leaps this week. For the first time she was picked up from school by someone other than David or myself. The next morning she asked who was picking her up. When I explained daddy was picking her up, she replied: Mommy work, daddy pick up in jeep.

If we were sharing a glass of wine, I know that you understand how huge that connection is for Bridget. That she could understand and articulate it.

If we were sharing a glass of wine, I would tell you I was able to brush her hair without Bridget freaking out. Until I misunderstood that she wanted a pony tail like Jillian. Tears were quickly stopped when mommy finally understood and the pony tail was achieved.

Huge gains for my girl this week.

If we were sharing a glass of wine, I would tell you I’ve only had one 3 am wake-up call to move the freaking elf. I am counting down the days until he leaves (13) but also feeling like this might be the last year Abby pretends to believe. Of course that is not making me inventive in his hiding places. Though I did allow him to eat her Advent calendar candy last night.

If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you as much as I am enjoying the school committee I am very happy that we are on hiatus until January. I am torn between happiness at being able to tuck the girls in at night for a few weeks and that I might be able to watch the Bruins. (The Bruins are slightly winning)

If we were having a glass of wine, I would tell you it is my mother-in-laws birthday today.  I would laugh as I told you the story of a few years ago when I tried to be crafty and make everyone a calendar for Christmas.. Being so smart I put everyone’s birthday on the calendar. Except my mother-in-laws. So let’s mess with her and if you see Barbara around town tell her a very happy birthday!

If we were having a glass of wine, I would hope you know how much I value your friendship. I hope you would share with me how your week was…
