Milestones met but not

Bridget lost her first tooth the other day. I don’t know when it happened. I didn’t even know she had a loose tooth. Had I not been brushing her teeth for bedtime the milestone would have gone unnoticed.

I put her to bed, like normal. No mention of the missing tooth or the tooth fairy.

TBT-April

April is a month of showers, renewal and for Boo a lot of doctor’s appointments. This Throw-back Thursday I explained on April 1, 2013 why April is probably my least favorite month.

How do you respond?

I am admitting to a snarky blog today. After the past couple of years I have compiled how I would really like to reply to some people. The other night we were out to dinner and I worried I might stop biting my tongue! It cracks me up. While I know that people are well meaning, sometimes the questions/helpful hints are enough to make my hair straight.  Then thought, blog post! So here it is, what I am really thinking when some one offers their ‘helpful’ comments:

A world full of empathy

A while ago I was asked by Kristi at Finding Ninee what would make the world more full of empathy. Those who know me know my first response was sarcastic:

Just accept those who are different you fool.

My Challenge: Jenn

I am so very lucky that my friends have been willing to be open and honest with their challenges. I would like you to meet my friend Jenn (also known as Jenn Said). Jenn and I met in High School when my parents had the brilliant idea to move the family from the suburbs to the boondocks. Okay, not really boondocks but it was a culture shock for sure. Jenn and I graduated high school and drifted apart as our lives went on.

Then I met David and he “introduced” me to one of his best friends: Jenn. I am not sure who was more surprised. We fell into that old friendship like you pull on that pair of comfortable winter pajamas and never took them back off.

Without further introduction, please meet my friend Jenn and her Challenge.

Happy Sunday

Today for the 31 for 21 Challenge I give you this beautiful video. It was created by a young man whose sister has Down Syndrome after he saw how some girls were treating his sister.

Finding the light

You know when you were little and afraid of the dark? You were sure that night light would stave off any monsters that might be lurking in the closet. Although that night light only covered 3 square inches, you felt safe. Even if it was an illusion.

Neighbors

You know how you cannot pick your family? Neighbors are the same. You never know if you are going to get the annoying Mrs. Cleaver or the Frat House when you move in. You just hope for the best. Continue reading

TBT–I was an idiot

It’s Throw-back Thursday.  This post was originally published on 06-SEP-2012 after a wonderful week of company. But then I became an idiot. Instead of being warrior mom I was one who judged. A person I wasn’t too proud to be.

31 for 21

I have been blogging for about four years now. In my first year my friend Michelle at Big Blueberry Eyes began hosting the 31 for 21 challenge. Although Boo doesn’t have Down Syndrome she has a lot of friends that do.  I have participated for the past three years and will do so again this year.

And this year I am starting on time, so bonus points!
